In the area of Rome Italy there are numerous dormant volcanos. That’s where the best ash comes from. When ash is mixed with Lime and water concrete is made. Ash needs to have been cooked at a high temperature. The ash byproduct from volcanos was cooked at a high temperature and makes for hard concrete.
The Romans figured this out and used the product to create buildings that still stand today. They created cities that without concrete would not have been possible. They used concrete to create aqueducts to transport water into Rome from 40 miles away. The combination of concrete, labor and smart architects created an infrastructure that enabled the culture to flourish.

Have you heard of outdoor rope lights? They are great for decorating your deck or patio, especially if you entertain during the summer months. They offer a unique décor and provide light while you are partying at night in your yard. The lights can be hung quite easily and can be taken down and stored when not required.
Unlike most other types of lights, outdoor rope lights allow the installer to be creative. These lights can be hung practically anywhere. They can be arranged to spell out someone’s name or anything you like. If you have a gazebo or a trellis, you can string up these lights to provide added lighting and to give the area a more attractive appearance.

Ozone air purifiers are commonly available and sold in the marketplace as a health enhancing tool to use in your household. The manufacturers often claim that they are superior air purification systems, and that the “energized oxygen” that the machine emits will eliminate viruses, bacteria, pollens, household dust, as well as odours and volatile organic compounds.
Unfortunately, the claims are not true. Not only that, ozone air purifiers can actually be harmful to your health. Much scientific research has been done regarding these machines, including a relatively high profile study by the Environmental Protection Agency in the United States.
Here are the three main conclusions of that study, and three really good reasons why you don’t want an ozone air purifier in your home:

Our gardens have recently been christened as the newest room in the modern house due to the amount of living that is now done outside. The patio is the main area for this outdoor living, this is where we sit and eat in summer, hold barbecues and relax as the sun is setting. So it is no surprise to see the amount of accessories that are available to make the patio a more comfortable place to live in. Patio awnings are an integral part of this living area, keep us in the shade when the sun is too hot enabling us to continue living outdoors as well as keeping us dry when the weather is inclement.

OK then, you have done your site investigation, the outline planning is through and you are ready to start designing your foundations. Here’s what you need to know.
There are five main types of foundation common to low-rise buildings within which category domestic housing falls. What type of ground you are building on will determine what type of foundation you will need to use.
Foundations and how they work.
· Trench Fill
· Strip Foundation
· Wide Strip Foundation
· Raft Foundation
· Piled Foundation
One Important note. When you expose your trench you need to get building control, NHBC or an independent structural engineer to inspect your ground prior to pouring your foundations. Forgetting to do this could mean digging up your foundations as a worst case, especially if the ground is not suitable for the type of foundation you intend to pour.

The majority of garden-owners are leaving themselves open to risk, it has been suggested.
According to RIAS, increasing numbers of Britons are spending money on their green space due to the rising popularity of makeover programmes and the concept of having an “outdoor room.” Currently, it was revealed that budding Charlie Dimmocks and Alan Titchmarshes are splashing more than four billion pounds every year on plants, tools and other gardening paraphernalia.
One way consumers may find they are able to finance copying something that they have seen on the likes of Gardeners’ World may be to take out a homeowner loan.

Spring is here and its time to take on a renovation project. Home prices are down and durable goods prices are up, the economy is slowing and you need every angle you can get to make your project a success, while coming in under budget. So make sure you are looking at all the angles when taking on that renovation project; I know I did and through it, I found a great way to save on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities.
The project I started with this spring was my kitchen. I wanted new appliances, new counter tops and new cabinets. My floor was in decent shape and only needed a good shine, but all the other parts were in need of upgrades. The appliances were more expensive than I budgeted, so this left me with little money for the cabinets and kitchen counter tops. I found some decent counter tops for an affordable price so my final step was the kitchen cabinets.

It is extremely easy to make holes into a wall, however it is extremely difficult to fix a hole if you already have one. Actually it’s not that difficult, there are some easy steps that you can follow to make the job easy.
1. Measure the size of the hole
You need to work out the size of the hole that you want to repair as different sizes of holes require different methods of repair. If it’s a very small hole then simply patching it with some compound is enough. When it has dried then you should sand back the spot for an even finish.
