The controls for this game are very simple. You press the direction (d-pad) buttons to move and A-button to Jump. The B-button is used to punch. You can get combos by hitting the B-button multiple times. If you hit B while next to a pipe or other objects you can pick them up. Hit B again to swing or throw the object. The most powerful attack in the game is if you hit right or left two times at the right time to run. Once you start running hit B to do a strong tackle.

This game was released by Rare in 1991. It was about two toads Rash and Zitz who had to save there friends (Pimple and Princess Angelica) from the Dark Queen. All the toads are cleverly named after skin disorders to make for an interesting game. IGN rated the game in the Top 10 hardest games to beat.

The levels are set up 3-D in a 2-D beat em’ up style. Similar to the Ninja Turtles Nes games. At some points of the game there are warps that will warp you a few levels ahead. Battletoads also featured two-player mode and was just as difficult in that mode as well. Battletoads and Double Dragon was a popular sequel for Super Nintendo that featured two popular titles from Nes.

When it becomes available on Wii Shop it will cost 500 points (five dollars). Since the original cartridge would be very rare to find today except at a yard sale or on eBay. So enjoy playing Battletoads for the Nintendo Nes or Snes.
