Laid Off, Finances Gone? What to do When Think You’ve Reached Your Stress Threshold! Part Two

Remember the Things You’re Not Supposed to Forget:

Cling to the Word of God at this point. My husband was many months in the third layoff when he felt he had come to the end of his emotional threshold. Even though we were accustomed to frequent family prayer, we had come to be afraid. The manner and timing of his last layoff added to the emotional stress. Our prayer was for God’s guidance and for strength.

It wasn’t that we had no faith; we were drained from the entire event. Are you experiencing this stage of a layoff also? Has your faith been challenged by days of anxiety? Have you lost your moorings from all this loss? Remember, faith comes from hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

    Remember it! Faith does come!

Pray With a Strategy, It Helps to Minimize the Stress. Start Where Your Faith Level Is : Have no faith? No Problem for the Lord!

“I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears!” Psalm 34:4

Fortunately, lack of faith does not void the faithfulness of God; His word does not return to Him void. (Romans 3:3;Isaiah 55:10) The Lord gives strength to the weary because those who wait (here the word wait means believe) upon the Lord will be renewed in strength. As you and your family are strengthen in prayer, you will find the stress level begin to dissolve.

Step Two of Strategy; Place Your Prayer Emphasis on the Goal

      • When you find yourself shift from fear to faith it is essential to concentrate on the strength and faith you now have.
      • Where your first prayer was Psalm 34, ‘He delivered me from all my fears’, now it’s a prayer of thanksgiving for being delivered from the fear.
      • The days of being at the threshold of your emotional stress are like a wilderness in many ways. Nevertheless, prepare a way for the Lord to quiet your totally disquieted soul.

“A voice is calling in the wilderness”, Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
